Ashley Brooks

Ashley Brooks

BS – Biology, UC Santa Barbara

I joined the Lyons Laboratory in March of 2012 to pursue research in animal forensics. My project is based on developing an identification panel utilizing phenotypic and individual identification SNPs. These panels will help crime scene investigators delineate the contributor DNA of a sample, and, will provide an efficient technique that is easily accessible to forensic labs. In 2006 I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a B.S. in Physiology. I then worked as a research associate in the Bay Area at an enzyme therapeutic biopharmaceutical company, BioMarin Pharmaceuticals focusing on rare genetic autosomal diseases. I arrived at UC Davis in 2011 with the purpose of receiving my Masters in Forensic Science. Whenever I get a chance, I like to spend my time riding my bicycle and dancing.
